Dog Days Of Summer

Well, here it is...My first blog.
I've been contemplating the idea of starting a blog for a few days now and was just waiting for the creative bug to bite when a great idea for my first post was thrown at me. More accurately, it was thrown by tiny little hands all over my living room floor.

While Mama was working (wink, wink) on the computer, I was listening to my sweet little angels in the other room giggling something about feeding the dogs. A game, I guessed, that my genius little children had made up completely of their own volition to occupy their time while I did very important work that just could not be delayed (something to do with a facebook obsession, if you get my drift). Riley was happily batting at toys at my feet...all was well.

That is until I heard the kids complaining about the dogs not wanting any more food. Okay...so it wasn't a completely made up game, perhaps they were feeding the dogs some scraps of food left over from their lunch. Not that I, a perfect mother and housekeeper, would allow left over lunch scraps to be left lying around...but nevermind that. So I pick up Riley and head into the other room to check it out. And this is what I find:

So forgive the awful pictures. I was quickly trying to snap a few shots while simultaneously scolding the kids, trying not to laugh, picking up the mess, and attempting to keep the baby from eating and/or choking on the wind-pipe sized morsels of dog food littering the floors. What the pictures don't show are the way our poor dogs were cowering on the floor, trying to escape the torrent of dog food falling all around them.

Needless to say, my 3 and 4 year olds could probably use just a little more supervision than what was being offered while I was in the other room, glued to the computer. Lesson learned.
