A Day Which Will Live In Infamy

Today is a day for the history books. It's importance is ranked somewhere between the day World War II ended and the day the Oreo cookie was invented.

Both Kenna and Randy ATE THEIR DINNER!!! Every. Single. Bite. This is such a monumental event in my household. Usually, I have to force every scoop of the fork. Each grain of rice or bite of chicken is a struggle, ordinarily ending with a tired and defeated Mama and two grumpy kids. Not tonight. Tonight I was hailed with the exclamations of two toddlers enjoying their meal. A meal, I might add, that did not originate in a box from our pantry or a bag pulled from out freezer only moments before being served at the table. Usually these are the only meals that the kids even put any effort into eating. It seems the longer the meal takes to make and the more pots, pans and utensils it takes to assemble, the less likely they are to even try a bite before discarding it and trying to leave the table.

Tonight I made stuffed mushrooms (a recipe from The Pioneer Woman), steamed broccoli (a fan fave), and chicken rolled with cream cheese and bacon, a recipe that I made up. It took a good hour and a half to make, as well as a fair number of pots and pans. The kids gobbled it up. Amidst the fervent chewing, sweet little Kenna looked at me with the sweetest little eyes and said: "This is amaaaazing! I never thought I would say that about dinner!"

I didn't either, Sweetie...

So, once again, I am no photographer...but here is a picture of said dinner. I'm thinking of putting a copy in their baby books next to the little locks of hair saved from their first haircuts.
